Health & WellnessIs Halloween safe for pets? Tips to keep your dog or cat calm.
While Halloween may be fun for us, it can be stressful for pets. Before the trick-or-treaters start ringing the doorbell, be sure that your pet is safely confined in a crate or room so that they don’t escape amidst the chaos. Keep any candy or treats out of reach of pets. Chocolate is toxic to pets, and many other treats or candies can lead to gastrointestinal upset or pancreatitis. If your pet becomes excessively anxious when the doorbell rings repeatedly, discuss solutions with your veterinarian.

Vet Q & AI just got a new puppy. Does Petco offer monthly pet insurance?
Charlie is so cute! Congratulations! I always recommend looking into pet insurance. We do not have pet insurance but here are a few different companies that provide good insurance for your pet. I would call and get quotes from them and see what they cover. I would look at: Petplan: https://www.gopetplan.com Trupanion: https://trupanion.com/ppc/best-care3?gclid=Cj0KCQiAl8rQBRDrARIsAEW_To9J9FgDp4EL0J01sFWNjI8Qm67dr7ADIYKepw311YUFv5MPhMdRm2waAq6AEALw_wcB ASPCA: https://www.aspcapetinsurance.com/ppc-17/confident?prioritycode=PPC_Brand&gclid=Cj0KCQiAl8rQBRDrARIsAEW_To-bMdYW5ztIL66GftIE-c0gaOLFG3xkvr8ezEFF76FLehYK8VBqiCUaApiHEALw_wcB#/start Figo: https://figopetinsurance.com/?&gclid=Cj0KCQiAl8rQBRDrARIsAEW_To9S9Q2Esru6qbt3iNGDIJy-CPe8qDedVasCoG_bCBidClnU7ER2f7QaApukEALw_wcB Nationwide: https://www.petinsurance.com/ppc-dog.aspx?src=GoogleSearch&OM=CI0418&gclid=Cj0KCQiAl8rQBRDrARIsAEW_To9M0lSK4SC-sL_Ep_fX4tg3gIqXWBYUvksJUDWph2_olYZ572AP0SoaAnlgEALw_wcB Thank you for using PetCoach!

Vet Q & ACan I get low-cost cat neutering at Petco or through their help?
Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! PetCo doesn't offer surgeries or see sick animals. PetCo's that offer veterinary services (VetCo) are for wellness and vaccinations only. I would check out the SPCA for low cost pay and neuter events. For other financial assistance: Care Credit (carecredit.com) can provide financing options. There are also many non-profit organizations that can provide financial assistance for animals. redrover.org humansociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_pet.html?credit=web_id91754962 bestfriends.org/resources/financial-aid-pets lessonsfromaparalyzeddog.com/when-pet-owners-cant-afford-veterinary-bills/ getyourpet, com

Training & BehaviorHow much is a cat at Petco? What supplies do I need & will it scratch?
Hello. The cats & kittens offered at Petco are actually managed by individual rescue groups. Prices will differ from rescue to rescue. All cats can do well if they are played with & fussed over once you get home. Can they get into trouble & sometimes make a mess? Absolutely. If you do not want hair & dander & kitty litter tracked all over the house, you should not have a pet. Cats may need to have their claws trimmed ( NOT REMOVED ) & plenty of opportunities to exercise their claws, otherwise they will scratch your furniture, moldings & walls. You will need different types of scratching surfaces, plenty of toys, a water & food dish, litter box ( or 2 ), & lots of patience. All cats are individuals, so when you go looking to adopt a cat, take your family & give yourself plenty of time to spend with your potential pet, & ask lots of questions about them. Good luck & thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
