    Proper substrate is an important element in any reptile's home. Not only will it help absorb droppings to help keep your reptile clean, but it also aids in encouraging natural behaviors such as digging and burrowing.

    The type of substrate you use will be partially personal preference and on the type of environment your pet needs. Substrates such as coconut fiber and forest floor are great at holding humidity for tropical species, whereas sand and walnut based substrates will be more appropriate for your desert dwelling dragons. A variety of substrates may also be mixed together, or benefit from the addition of things like moss or rocks to make your reptile feel even more at home, and provide a beautiful natural landscape. If loose substrates aren't your preference, there is an assortment of cage liners to suit almost any reptile's need and can make a great, easy to clean bottom for your pet's habitat.
