Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this prescription diet for managing skin allergies, digestive issues, and food sensitivities in cats. Most report dramatic improvements in coat quality, reduced itching, and stabilized digestion, with many describing it as the only viable option for severe conditions like IBD or chronic vomiting. Cats eagerly accept the small, round kibble, even picky eaters transitioning smoothly. While the high cost is frequently mentioned, customers consistently state results justify the expense. A small number report their cats refuse the food or experience side effects like weight gain, but overall, most consider it worthwhile.

Food allergies

Lolo

This food has helped my cat so much. My cat has food allergies that make her get hot spots on her skin. Ever since switching to ZD in March 2024, she has been thriving. No flare ups from this food at all. Sometimes she will get a flare up if she sneaks a bite of her brother’s food, but ever since starting this food she has not needed any steroids to heal. This has been life changing for my little girl 🩵

Good Eats for an IBD Cat!

I tried the canine version of this several years ago and my pet would not eat it. It was with some concern I opted to try this for my IBD cat and was pleased to find he loves it. We are still working to get his symptoms under control but fortunately l’m not battling the nutrition side of the equation.

Fussy cats

I'm a veterinarian and bought this food for a food trial for my cat (one needs a food trial the other is along for the ride). Bought canned and dry. They refused to eat the canned and eat the dry reluctantly, both eating much less than normally. I wanted to try a limited ingredient canned but there is very little currently available in prescription form. Will this be changing? What about a derm complete for cats? Anything new upcoming?

Feline dry z/d new formula review

Ariel8

My cat has been eating feline dry z/d chicken for the past 8 years. Since you changed the formula of this product (adding more fiber) my cat hates it and absolutely refuses to eat it. So sorry that you made these changes because now I'm having a hard time trying to find an alternative.

Questions

1 - 4 of 4 Questions

What is the difference between the d/d formula and z/d? Both say for food sensitivity, but I am having an easier time finding z/d in sock rather then the d/d my vet prescribed. Can I substitute one for the other?

Could a 7 month old kitten eat the dry food but still eat wet kitten food?  Our adult cat needs to eat the prescription food but trying to feed them separately is causing neither of them to eat

    1. Yes. Should not be a problem. We do the same with ours

Can you feed this to kittens?

    1. Thank you for your question. Prescription Diet® z/d® is formulated to meet the needs of an adult cat. Hill's Pet Nutrition

Does the Hills Z/D dry food have more than one flavor?
