Customers say

Customers overwhelmingly praise this gravel vacuum for making tank cleaning quick and effortless, with strong suction and efficient siphoning as standout features. Most highlight the hand pump's ease of use and intuitive operation, noting it simplifies water changes across tanks from 3 to 125 gallons. The vacuum effectively removes debris, feces, and uneaten food without excessive effort. A small number report durability issues with the pump mechanism or leaks at connections, and some note it struggles with larger particles. Despite these minor concerns, most customers consider it a reliable, game-changing cleaning solution.

Worst siphon ever. I cannot tell you how many of these I have bought. The latest one broke after 2 uses. The pump is cheap and cracks down the seam so it no longer suctions. My store only has these and another for $100, I'm considering just buying the nice brand.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Awful! No suction

Terrible! Sucks water but it’s such a weak suction that it doesn’t pick up anything that’s in the gravel. I wish I could return this but I bought it over a month ago when I first set up the tank.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Note that the suction bulb has an IN and an OUT side. I strongly suspect that all the negative reviews saying in didn't work had the bulb on backwards. It worked great for me.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Not excited about this

I bought this hoping the pump would make things easier. Nope. The pump leaks at connections. I tried re-trimming, to no avail. Had to duct tape it. It's hard to get decent suction, and when you do, the filter catches fairly well, but clogs up easily. So, I mean, if you're willing to put in the extra labor, I suppose it looks and works like the others I've been looking at to replace it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

i bought this in store, because i wanted something with a narrow vacuum. it worked the first time i used it, and i was pleased i could fit it into tighter spots in the tank. however, now i can't get the suction to work at all., i tried trimming the tubing all around for a tight fit, and still nothing. what a waste of $15. no longer have the receipt or the package since it worked a week ago... very frustrating.

No, I do not recommend this product.

  1. I use a chair to put a 5 gallon bucket on to siphon water or reverse to add water…..It doesn’t leak but I still put a old towel on the floor in front of the fish tank….It works like a charm…

bought 55gal vac used it 2x, 3rd time won't siphon water to start, sounds like air leaking from somewhere, completely taken apart, reassembled, it won't work. I've thrown the packaging out already. Want to return tho, unless there is a secret I'm missing?

  1. This has happened to me before. My problem was I had the squeeze handle part on the wrong way. Once turned it started working again. I did have issues with the bigger vacuum though which I believe may be the one you have. I went with the smaller vacuum and have had it for years with no problem.

The hole in the top of the siphon tube suddenly shut and I can't see how to open. When new, today, the hole was in the shape of a half circle. What do I do to open it up again?

  1. Hi Lou Sr, We sent you an email about this. Thanks,

Can I use this on a 5.5 gallon tank?

  1. Any gravel vacuum cleaner should work in a 5.5 gal tank.
