Using the chart, divide the total cups per day by the total number of times you feed your dog per day to determine the portion size for each meal. Every dog is a little different, so optimal feeding amounts may vary with age, size and activity level. Please use this information as an initial recommendation only and adjust when needed. Dry and wet food in combination will help to increase the level of water in your dog s diet. If feeding with wet food, reduce dry amount by 1/4 cup for every 3 oz of wet food. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean bowl daily. Transitioning: Gradually mix in the new food over 7 - 10 days, increasing the amount of Merrick Dog Food each day. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly.

Customers say
Customers overwhelmingly praise this dog food for dramatically improving their pets' health and appetite. Most report their dogs eagerly devour meals and refuse other brands, with picky eaters showing newfound enthusiasm. Many highlight relief from food allergies and skin issues, noting itching stopped within days and coat shine improved significantly. Reviewers consistently emphasize clean, grain-free ingredients and better digestion. A few mention fishy odor or occasional rejection, but these are rare exceptions in an otherwise exceptionally positive landscape.

Questions
I have a shih tzu.. do you think is a good food for him? Or should I get for small breed?
- We used the "lil plates" of the same formula and flavor for our poodle mix (14 lbs) and maltese mix (7 lbs) pups. Good size kibbles for smaller dogs.

How many cups can we measure per pound of dry food in each bag?
- I have not weighted it. But I give my 13lbs maltipoo 1 cup per day and one 13lbs bag is good for 3 months. It's about 7 cups per pound.

Are the kibbles small ? I have small dogs.
- They are approximately the size of a dime, maybe just a little smaller. I have not looked to see if they offer a smaller size kibble because I have large dogs.

Does Merrick add taurine to their dog foods?
- Merrick is a great choice for your four-legged family member because all of our diets, including our Grain Free Real Salmon + Sweet Potato recipe, contain appropriate levels of cysteine and methionine, the amino acids that dogs use to make their own taurine. Additionally, we’ve also started supplementing taurine in all of our dry dog food recipes. If you have any additional questions, please contact our Pet Parent Relations team at 1-800-664-7387 or email at customerservice@merrickpetcare.com

When Purina purchased Merrick, did the quality/ingredients change in the dog food? I have been hearing that Merrick is not as good now that it is owned by Purina
- Hi Typam, According to Merrick, they will continue to make the high quality, nutritious and safe pet food and treats as they always have and have made no changes to their recipes as a result of the Purina acquisition. They will continue their heritage of innovation in pet food, as continuous improvement of their recipes has always been a part of the process and is ongoing as they work to make the best quality food at Merrick.

Are the various fish ingredients in this formula from wild or farmed fish? And why do use canola oil? I know it's cheap, but it's also genetically-engineered!! (As is all the cheap feed given to farm-raised fish, by the way...)
- Merrick recipes have a combination of both wild-caught and farm-raised salmon. Canola oil was selected as a fat source for the purpose of supplying energy from a non-animal origin. This oil is an excellent source of essential omega 6 fatty acids. The canola oil we use is very similar to what you cook with at home and buy in the grocery store. In fact, it comes from a food grade facility where they make many other oils for salad dressing and such.

WAnt to switch brands of dog food on my repeat delivery - how do I do this?
- Hi Ajsmith, Currently, there is no way to change the food on a repeat delivery. You could either cancel the repeat delivery then set up a new one with the new food or add the new food to your existing repeat delivery then remove the food you wanted to change. If you need assistance, you may call 877-303-8444 to reach our VIP hotline.
