Every dog is a little different and you may have to experiment a bit to find the food that Roscoe tolerates the best. I don't know what your budget is, or what is specifically available in your area, but here are a few brand options: Natural Balance Taste of the Wild Merrick Canidae Most of these brands offer grain free treats as well. Hi, thank you for using PetCoach! From your post, I gather you are wondering what other testing and/or therapies are appropriate to maximize Finley's life span and quality of life. For testing, I would be interested in his urine specific gravity, a urine protein:creatinine ratio, leptospirosis titers (unless vaccinated for lepto), tick titers, and abdominal ultrasound. I would also be interested in more of his medical history. This would be a good case for a consult if you are interested, and I am available through this system. Things that tend to help are Increasing Finley's water intake, putting him on a diet lower in protein (typically prescription), keeping him on medications that prevent gastroduodenal ulceration, and some supplements help. Cranberry extract-based supplements are a neutraceutical class of supplement meaning they are not regulated by the FDA and do not have a lot of research behind them. That said, one I would recommend is this: Nutramax Crananidin Pet Supplement, 75 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0077CYK6E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xWmUzbACQAY5N Give as labeled. I am sorry Finley has such a significant disease and hope he does well! I hope you find this information helpful!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center! I personally like the Purina Pro Plan diets as well as the Hill's Science Diet foods as I think they are both palatable and highly nutritious. In terms of treats, I think the milk bones products are both nutritious, palatable and reasonably priced. Good luck and best wishes!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! All the good allergy foods have a comparable price. The best in my opinion is the Royal canin Ultamino. This is the one recommended by the dermatologists at my hospital. Good luck and have a great day!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! A very good diet that is also accessible and not expensive is the Purina pro Plan shredded diets. You can get them at your local pet store. While it may not be an emergency, it is still ideal to have him checked for the bites and the itchiness. It is also very important to start a flea and tick preventative like Frontline plus. He may be itching due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!
