Leopard geckos are great "starter" reptiles. They don't require special lighting (UVB) like other reptiles. A 20 gallon tank is big enough for one. Add a heat source, hides and a water bowl and you are good to go. A 10 gallon tank can be purchased in the local Petco for less than twenty dollars ( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/fish/fish-aquariums-kits/aquariums-up-to-ten-gallons/aqueon-standard-glass-aquarium-tank-10-gallon ). It would be easier to keep and secure than a laundry hamper. Given the temps required for geckos, plastic may not be the best option either. You will need a a heat lamp for day use and maybe a heat source if nighttime temperatures drop below 70 F. You can use slate, reptile carpet, plain paper towels or a coconut fiber substrate. Hi. It’s really impossible to accurately age reptiles. We can guess that they are juvenile, sub adult, or adult based on size, but this is not terribly accurate. Since reptiles are ecototherms and their metabolic rate is related to their environment, nutrition and temperature affect growth. Therefore, reptiles don’t grow based on chronological age, but rather based on the appropriateness of their previous husbandry. So we can see 2 reptiles of the exact chronological age have very different body sizes if one is fed and housed under one set of parameters compared to the other. Your best bet would be to have a new pet wellness exam done by your veterinarian who can maybe give you an educated guess. Good luck and enjoy your new pet!

Thanks for reaching out about Oakley. Both Repashy and Pangea are known brands in the industry but there are concerns on whether they are complete diets for a lifetime. It would be recommended to switch from one to the other, periodically. One might have more of one nutrient, where to other might be better supplemented in others. Both should be well fortified in calcium. It is possible to over-supplement with calcium so probably wouldn't add more than once weekly. Good luck.

Check out online sources such as LLL Reptile ( www.lllreptile.com ) and DFW Reptarium ( www.dfwreptarium.com ). You can also look up any upcoming reptile shows. A quick search showed ReptiCon ( www.repticon.com ) coming to Grapevine during the summer months.
