    Dog Simparica

As a responsible pet parent, you know that flea and tick medicine for dogs is an essential part of their wellness routine. There are plenty of treatments out there, including collars and topical ointments. Then there is Simparica—a fast-acting, easy-to-administer oral preventive.

Simparica allows you to skip the complicated administration of spot-on topical treatments. It comes in a liver-flavored chewable tablet that many dogs love. You can give it directly to your pup or mix it with their food. But chewable flea medicine for dogs isn’t just convenient. Simparica starts killing fleas within 3 hours and ticks within 8 hours and provides a full month of protection against infestations.

No matter where you live or your pup’s lifestyle, you need tick medicine for dogs. Ticks exist in every part of the country and can even affect mostly indoor dogs. Simparica is effective against the 5 most common types of ticks—Lone Star ticks, Gulf Coast ticks, American dog ticks, brown dog ticks and black-legged ticks, also known as deer ticks—the species that carries Lyme disease. Flea medicine for dogs is also important. They can pick up fleas from other animals at the dog park, in boarding or at doggie daycare.

Simparica helps protect your dog against both of these pests in one chewable pill. Consult your veterinarian for a prescription, then choose the option that’s right for your dog’s weight. Give your dog Simparica at the same time each month—it’s that easy.

    FAQs About Simparica

Simparica is an oral flea and tick medicine for dogs. It is given once a month via a chewable tablet and starts killing fleas and ticks within hours. It can also prevent new infestations of these pests. Need flea medicine for extra large dogs or small dogs? There are 6 different dosage options depending on your dog’s weight, ranging from 2.8 lbs. to 132 lbs.

Simparica contains sarolaner, which enters your dog’s bloodstream after being absorbed through the stomach. When a parasite like a flea or tick bites your dog, they ingest the sarolaner along with their “meal,” which disrupts their nerve cell functions and kills them. Sarolaner is extremely effective against invertebrates like fleas and ticks in very small doses that do not affect dogs.

Simparica has been evaluated by the FDA and approved for dogs that weigh more than 2.8 lbs. and are over 6 months old. Side effects are rare but can include diarrhea, vomiting and abnormal neurologic signs. Be aware that it has not been evaluated for use in dogs that are pregnant, lactating or breeding. Always give it as directed, and never give Simparica or other oral flea medicine for dogs to a human, cat or other animals. If your dog takes too much Simparica, contact your veterinarian.
